Originally from Suffolk, England, Doug Hoy’s love for the water has shaped his entire life, from travelling and studying to becoming a Course Director at Blue Marlin Dive. His favorite dive site is Cauldron in Komodo, where the thrill of diving with whalesharks creates unforgettable experiences. Doug is a certified expert in Extended Range, Sidemount, and DPV, constantly pushing himself to master the art of diving.

Doug’s journey into diving began in Koh Tao, when snorkelling simply wasn’t enough. He went on to fund his IDC with money he won on a TV game show – a fun fact that always surprises people. When he’s not diving, Doug spends his spare time playing chess and dreaming of future dives in the Arctic, where he hopes to encounter orcas.

Doug is known for his quick wit and his ability to juggle multiple responsibilities. His favorite piece of advice? “ Stay ahead of the game by being organized and proactive. It’s the small details that make a big difference in achieving success.” After a long day, there’s nothing he enjoys more than a cold beer. Doug firmly believes that Indonesia is the best place to teach professional diving, and he is proud to be part of the Blue Marlin family.
