WHAT WILL MY TRAINING CONSIST OF?

Revise and pass exams related to:

  • The roles and characteristics of a Divemaster

Prepare an Emergency Action Plan

  • Detail the proper procedures to follow in the event of a diving related accident (relevant to the local environment).

Stamina Skills

  • Exercise 1 – 400 metre/yard swim 
  • Exercise 2 – 15 minute float/tread 
  • Exercise 3 – 800 metre/yard snorkel swim
  • Exercise 4 – 100 metre/yard diver tow 
  • Exercise 5 – Equipment Exchange

Diver Rescue

  • Perform a search and rescue of an unconscious diver to demonstration quality

Diver Skills Workshop

  • Refine and be able to demonstrate the 24 basic Scuba skills at demonstration level quality in order to better assist instructors

Dive Site Set Up and Management 

  • Set up a dive site and manage predive preparations, give the boat briefing and act as the dive host

Mapping Project

  • Prepare a map of a local dive site offering useful information for those unfamiliar with the area

Dive Briefing

  • Conduct a divemaster briefing for a familiar dive site covering the 10 necessary points listed on the briefing slate.

Search and Recovery Scenario

  • Learn how to properly search for objects of different sizes in different environments, tie underwater knots and properly bring up a lift bag

Deep Dive Scenario

  • Demonstrate navigation at depth and familiarity with deep dive specific procedures

ReActivate in Confined Water

  • After mastering your own dive skills, conduct a full scuba review for a guest

Skin Diver Course and Snorkeling Supervision

  • Lead a snorkelling tour and teach the snorkeler the skills of the Skin Diver Course

DSD Program in Confined Water & Addtl. Open Water Dive

  • Under direct instructor supervision, lead the confined session and additional open water dive on a DSD

Discover Local Diving in Open Water

  • Act as the day’s divemaster by briefing your divers on the local conditions and leading them on the subsequent dive

Certified Divers in Open Water

Aid your PADI instructor in multiple training and supervisory situations to develop skills that will shape you into a more informed and better dive leader. Assist with students, practice the demonstration of skills, recognise potential problems before they happen, correct and guide new students, and assist with Open Water Diver academics. 

Prerequisites

Minimum age of 18 years

Minimum of 40 logged dives to begin the course and 60 dives to earn certification.

Medical clearance signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent).

PADI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent).

Current Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.
