Lauren Wilcher, originally from North Carolina/Virginia, USA, transitioned from being a Wardrobe Supervisor in New York City to diving on Gili Trawangan. She loves the small, car-free community of the island and the support she receives from the Blue Marlin Dive team. Her favorite dive sites are Biorocks and Halik Reef, where she enjoys spotting juvenile fish, including the rare lacey scorpionfish. A mother of two, Lauren also holds a degree in Technical Theatre and prides herself on being a “Google Sheets Wizard.”

Friends describe her as determined, organized, and creative. A fun fact? She’s traveled to all 50 U.S. states while on tour with an Irish dance show. Outside of diving, Lauren enjoys writing a fantasy trilogy set in medieval Indonesia and practicing yoga.

Her dream dive spots include Alor, Raja Ampat, and Komodo, and she’s hoping to encounter manta rays, whale sharks, and flamboyant cuttlefish. Currently, she’s saving up to take her family to England for Christmas. After a dive, you can find her relaxing with a cider or dreaming of mulled wine during the rainy season.
