Vasu Mahajan is an Open Water Scuba Instructor at Blue Marlin Dive, where he brings a rich background in education, filmmaking, and technology. After moving to Vietnam in 2017, he began his career as a teacher, then transitioned into education technology, where his creative and technical skills thrived. His journey eventually led him to pursue his passion for diving full-time, and today, Vasu combines his diverse experiences to inspire others both above and below the surface.

Though his official role centers around diving, Vasu also enjoys contributing to the dive center’s digital presence, creating engaging content, supporting social media efforts, and helping develop the shop’s brand identity. His knack for leveraging automation tools helps keep Blue Marlin’s online presence strong and consistent, though he prefers to stay behind the scenes in this area.

Vasu’s favorite dive site in the Gili Islands is Simon’s Reef, and he’s one day hoping to spot hammerhead and great white sharks underwater somewhere in the world. The coolest thing he’s witnessed underwater was a school of reef sharks, dolphins, giant trevallies, and manta rays at Castle Rock in Komodo. He teaches specialties like Sidemount, Deep, Nitrox, Night, and Wreck diving.

Outside of diving, Vasu has a passion for flying FPV drones (despite crashing a few), racing cars, and is currently working on entrepreneurial ventures. He started diving as part of his “fat to fit” transformation and loves the opportunities, ease of diving, and island lifestyle that Gili offers.
